The Violin: Sizes and Brands

So, you would like to start playing the violin, however, you heard about all the different sizes and brands this stringed instrument comes in and would like to know how to pick the perfect size and brand that fits you best? I recently started the violin and wondered this same thing myself. As a guide to future violin players, I will share my advice. From left to right is a 4/4, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8 and 1/32 size violins. The trick to finding the perfect violin for either yourself or a child is to place the violin as if you were playing it and then stretch your left arm to see if you can comfortably wrap your fingers around the scroll. (The scroll is the curly tip of the violin) Now the guide to buying the right brand is a bit tricky and just depends on your preference. Of course a good quality violin is wanted, however, you don't want to buy your young child a professional player's instrument unless your child is a musical genius. For a beginning violin player, a brand of good quality is the Stentor Violin. The Stentor Violin is an affordable brand that has great quality and a good tone for any beginning player. When choosing a violin brand, some good things to keep in mind are the following: tone quality, affordability, and availability. I hope this helps!!!
